Trees for Pets relaunches on 27 October to mark every moment in a pet's life, not only the goodbye

Melbourne, 27 October 2026. The Australian based company, which began with a single tree planted for a family dog, is unveiling a new brand identity and website. Pet parents can now plant a real tree for a birthday, a new pet arrival, an adoption anniversary or in remembrance. Each tree is planted in real life with a verified reforestation partner and given its own page in the Trees for Pets virtual forest.

From memorial to milestone

Trees for Pets has been known for memorial trees. Now it covers every occasion in a life shared with a pet, including:

  • New arrivals: the day a puppy, kitten or rescue comes home.
  • Birthdays and adoption days: a gift for the pet that already has everything.
  • Remembrance: a living tribute that keeps memories close.

Pet parents already mark these moments with parties, treats and products. After a loss, they turn to urns, jewellery and keepsakes. Many tree-planting gifts are anonymous. The buyer never learns where the tree is, or whether it was planted at all. Trees for Pets gives each tree a name, a place and a page.

Vet clinics, insurers and pet brands use tree gifts to recognise new members, pet birthdays, membership anniversaries and condolences. The messages are personal and the artwork is co-branded for the occasion. Trees for Pets builds custom client experiences with pet care brands and can serve large corporate partners.

Proof points

  • Over 20,000 trees planted as of October 2026
  • More than 30 reforestation projects supported in 17 countries
  • Planting partners verified by Verra and Gold Standard
  • Real trees in real soil, in projects that involve local communities, such as farmer training in Uganda
  • Brand partners report email open rates above 85%, along with higher member return rates, better retention and higher Net Promoter Scores (partner case studies: Trupanion, pet insurance provider; EverVet, vet clinic network)

The story behind it

In 2014, the Farley family's dog, Winston, died. They planted a tree for him on their farm near Melbourne. In 2022, Marlen Farley and her co-founder Verity Byrne turned that idea into Trees for Pets. They learned from pet parents and vets and found trusted reforestation partners. The first customer tree sold in 2023. The first Australian vet partnership followed in 2024. The company now works in Australia, the U.S. and the UK.

We wanted to change the way the world memorialises pets. When Verity and I founded Trees for Pets in 2022, we imagined a world where we plant at least one tree for every pet we love. Now, expanding our offering to mark and celebrate different pet milestones, including pet birthdays, brings us closer to that vision by connecting our services with pet owners throughout their pet's entire lifetime. They know there's a meaningful way to celebrate their companion's life and mark important milestones while giving back to our planet.

How it works

Each tree is planted in a pet's name and joins the Trees for Pets forest.

  • A real tree: planted with a verified reforestation partner, as a single tree or a grove of up to 100.
  • A personalised certificate: it carries the pet's name and a QR code that links to their tree in the virtual forest.
  • A tree page: the tree grows over time beside details of the planting project, so families can return and revisit their dedication whenever they like.
  • A choice of format: digital, printed or framed certificates, with portraits and candles as add-ons where available.
  • A community: pet parents have planted over 20,000 trees through Trees for Pets.
Across our 42 Digs Dog Care locations, our teams build real relationships with pets and the families who love them. Trees for Pets gives us a meaningful way to honor those relationships during one of the hardest moments a pet owner can experience. We've had clients come back simply to tell our teams how much the gesture meant to them, and to me, that says everything. It's personal, lasting, and a beautiful way to show families that their pet mattered to us too.
Dustin HicksBusiness Manager, Digs Dog Care
Our partnership with Trees for Pets, in both Australia and the United Kingdom, is one we value enormously, and it is universally appreciated by the families we care for. So many of our clients want to memorialise their pet in a meaningful way, and while keepsakes such as ashes and paw prints remain precious, a living memorial offers something truly special: a tribute that grows, endures and makes a positive difference to the world. We are proud to offer our clients this opportunity, and grateful to work alongside an organisation that honours pets with such passion and dedication.
